    News — winter

Attention New Yorkers: Put away your shorts and tee shirts. Winter is coming fast!

As the famous philosopher Isaac Newton once said, "What goes up must come down".  This quote can be applied to New York in many ways; The stock market, fashion trends, elevators, the train system, and unfortunately, the temperature.

In a metropolis full of extremes, it is only right the the hot, sunny summer is contrasted by a dark, frigid winter.  For some, it is easy to take the summer for granted.  Smelly train rides, sweaty commutes to work, and a unique heat that radiates from the concrete can have even the most mindful New Yorkers catching themselves longing for the winter.  And visa versa once the snow shovels and ski masks come out.

Is is not all bad though...there is a lot to be said about the great things that the winter in New York brings. Ice skating in Central Park, the larger than life Christmas tree at Rockefeller, and the chaotic NYE party in Times Square are just a few of the things you can enjoy.  Did I mention the beauty and tranquility.  It's amazing how even the most energetic city in the world can seem as an abandoned ghost town when the snow piles up.

But hey, drastic seasonal changes must be endured to live in the best city of the world, right?Regardless of what you believe, it is inevitable.  Just remember, at your darkest and coldest hour, Newton's quote.  The winter, just like the summer, shall pass. So, in the mean time, get out your boots, gloves, and scarfs.  It is going to be an extremely cold one!
